Hydrafact People
Hydrafact is managed by senior staff from the Centre for Gas Hydrate Research (CGHR) at Heriot-Watt University. The team currently consists of a business manager and three senior consultants under the direction of Prof Bahman Tohidi. Technical support and experimental facilities are supplemented by the staff and laboratories of the CGHR and Reservoir Fluids Research Group at Heriot-Watt, where Hydrafact is based.

Following graduation in 1984 (BSc in Chemical Engineering, Abadan Institute of Technology, Iran), Bahman Tohidi joined the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), where he worked as production engineer and university lecturer for seven years. In 1991 he joined Heriot-Watt University, graduating with a PhD in Petroleum Engineering in 1995 with his doctoral work on the phase behaviour of water-hydrocarbon systems and gas hydrates. He started his employment at Heriot-Watt in January 1994, working on both Hydrate and Reservoir Fluids research projects.

Ross Anderson holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Geology (University of St. Andrews, UK, 1998), and an MSc in Geochemistry (University of Edinburgh, UK, 1999). Following graduation, he joined the team of the Centre for Gas Hydrate Research at Heriot-Watt. He has over 7 years hydrate and flow assurance experience, working on both industry-funded flow assurance projects and government sponsored research into naturally-occurring gas hydrates. He is first or co-author on over 15 refereed journal and 20 conference publications, primarily concerning fluid phase behaviour, gas hydrates in marine sediments, and avoiding hydrate problems in the oil and gas industry. Mr Anderson is a Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Following graduation from the University of Aberdeen, UK (1983), Rod Burgass worked on routine and special core analysis, first for Redwood Corex (1984 to 1988), then Corelabs (1988 to 1989). In 1989, he took up a research position at Heriot-Watt University, first within the Reservoir fluids Group, then the Gas Hydrate Group, during which him he obtained his MPhil (1995). He has over 18 years experience of hydrocarbon PVT, hydrate and flow assurance studies, and is first or co-author on over 26 refereed journal and 27 conference publications, primarily concerning reservoir fluid phase behaviour, and avoiding hydrates/wax problems in the oil and gas industry.
